Date: 2014-01-16

The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has promised that the state-owned International Vocational Centre in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state will admit its first set of students by September this year.

Governor Ahmed gave this assurance after inspecting the ongoing construction works at the College, adding that it was designed to take hands on skills to international level.

Obviously elated by the progress of work at the centre, which was put at about 90 per cent completion, the governor said it was a dream brought to reality as it would outlive his administration.

He explained that IVC was different from his administration's Quick Win Initiative as it was designed to create an enduring platform for youths to be experts in various fields of vocational enterprise.

Ahmed noted that the products of the college will be well trained to be major drivers of local economy and employable in both developing and developed economies.

Governor Ahmed was conducted round the centre by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Alhaji Lamidi Alabi, who explained that the construction work would be completed in the next three months.
