Miyetti Allah group decries attacks on members

Date: 2014-01-06

The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, yesterday expressed concern over  incessant attacks on its members in some parts of the country, urging states and the federal government to take measures to check it.

The association said at a meeting in Lagos that it was worried lack of concern governments of various states where such attacks take place.

"If you notice, of recent, the problem is becoming incessant, that is why we decided to hold this meeting in Lagos", the National President of the association, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, told our correspondent after the meeting.

He added: "In states like Kwara , Nasarawa and Benue many of our members and their cows have been killed, the most worrying part is that in Kogi State some people gave Fulanis an ultimatum to leave the area, despite the fact that they have been living in that area for close to 100 years."

He said the members resolved to call all state governments concerned to take measure to curb the attacks. "We want the governments to know that over 90% of the animals used in this country come from the Fulanis, we pay revenue as well, therefore we deserve government's protection whereever we are", he said.
