Kwara SUBEB Plans To Use ICT To Monitor Teachers, Schools

Date: 2013-11-29

The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is to install an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) machine in all the 16 local government education authorities' offices in the state to monitor the activities of the teachers and schools in the state.

The chairman of the board, Barr. Lanre Daibu, disclosed this during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin, the state capital.

Daibu explained that the monitoring and supervision of the 1,448 public primary schools in the state had been posing serious challenge to the board.

He said the ICT centres in the 16 local government council education authorities would be used to monitor the presence of pupils and teachers in schools.

The chairman stressed that executive and management monitoring committees had been set up in the board to complement the activities of the quality assurance team towards effective supervision of schools in the state.

On infrastructural development in schools, he said renovation of more classrooms was ongoing in schools across the three senatorial districts of the state.

He said no pupil in all public schools in the state would learn under the tree or in an unconducive environment again, pointing out that the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, had taken bold steps to holistically address the issue.

The chairman added that Kwara was one of the best performing states in the ranking of the donor agency, Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN), sponsored by DFID.
