The former governor of Kwara State and the Chairman representing Kwara Central, Senator Bukola Saraki (CON) has expressed his satisfaction with the executed projects during the peak raining season. The Senator, in a remark after undergoing a tour of the on-going and completed projects across the State stated that at the beginning of the exercise, his utmost priority was to carry out as many road constructions as possible before the end of the year despite the irregular rainfall experience during the rainy season.

Between the 4th of July and 30th of October, 2013, the project unit of Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki's constituency office has embarked on numerous projects to bring succor to the people of the State and bring development closer to the people. However, true to his words, the community has also been a part of the project exercising patience, assisting to remove shanties along major roads, solidarity and support to the construction workers on the site. Some of the projects executed are;

1.      Drainage de-silting Project within the Local Government Areas in the Constituency.

2.      Rehabilitation of Specialist Hospital – Gaa Osibi road, Ilorin South LGA.

3.      Rehabilitation of Apaokagi – Aromaradu road with concrete drainage system at Oke Are zone, Adewole ward, Ilorin West L.G.A.

4.      Construction of Erosion Control Channel at Kokorokan – Olooto zone, Alanamu Ward, Ilorin West LGA.

Summary of Executed and Certified works Include:

·       Excavation of 1m x 1.7m for the erosion control drainage system;

·       Casting of 1.7m concrete base for the channel.

·       Installation of reinforcement iron bar (1Feet x 1Feet bar spacing) for structural stability of the drainage system.

Summary of work balance to completion:

·       Installation of formwork for reinforced concrete wall

·       Casting of drainage concrete wall

·       Backfilling of the drainage system

6.      Flood control and Construction of water-logged evacuation channel at Abata Asunkere area, Ajikobi ward, Ilorin West LGA.

Summary of Executed works:

·       Evacuation of heap of refuse dumps on the project site;

·       De-watering of the area logged with high volume of water on the project site

·       Excavation of drainage channel for storm water control.

Summary of work balance to completion:

·       Construction of reinforced concrete drainage system on a designed elevation to drain water from the flood location.

·       Laterite filling and compaction on the project site.

7.      Construction of Erosion Control Channel at Olomi area along Afon community, Asa LGA.

Some of these projects were directly executed by the constituency office of Senator Bukola Saraki  and others in collaboration with the Kwara State government, FERMA and the Federal Ministry of  Environment, Abuja.

The community leaders, party executives, youth development association and assembly as well as other community members in various wards where these projects are being carried out have conveyed their appreciation to Bukola Saraki during his Ileya visit of the project site. The representatives from the Alanamu ward council were full of praise for His Excellency Bukola Saraki and  the Ministry of Environment, for the timely intervention and mobilization of contractors to the persistent erosion problem they were encountering.

The Distinguished Senator further reiterated that his constituency projects is aimed at providing grassroots community Development and Empowerment program by involving them in the supply of an appreciable percentage of construction materials and provision of labour for construction works in order to create gainful employment to the masses.

Finally, Senator Saraki has assured the people of Kwara Central Senatorial District especially the grassroots on his continued recognition and support for their welfare and capacity  building.
