New Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chinwike Asadu, has warned criminals to steer clear of the state.

He vowed to ensure the safety of life and property in the state, saying his mission is to ensure a crime-free society.

Speaking during his official visit to the Correspondent Chapel of the State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday, he assured all law abiding residents of their safety.

He stated that maintenance of peace and security was essential for socio-economic and political advancement, adding that he would ensure that the state maintained its harmonious and peaceful status.

Asadu said, "I have set out my operations on the ground upon resumption of office and there will be no place for criminals in the state. Kwara State is a state of harmony and my vision is to leave it better than I met it.

"There is no doubt that corruption is prevalent in our country, but I am happy to say that Nigeria Police Force is the only organisation that has continued to fight it."

He stated that the maintenance of peace and order should be the business of everybody in the society, adding that the command was willing to involve members of the public to sustain and even enhance security in the state.
