Why We Endorsed Gov. Ahmed's Second term - Saraki

The immediate past Governor of Kwara State and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Dr Bukola Saraki has said he personally endorsed Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed for second term in office because he had performed well.

Saraki who spoke with journalists in Ilorin after inspecting sites of flood disaster in Ilorin metropolis said, "my endorsement of Governor Ahmed for a second term was not accidental.

"He worked for it; he merited it because he has performed creditably well. All I have told you is that I Dr Abubakar Bukola

Saraki has endorsed Governor Ahmed for a second term. And this is because the governor has met our people's expectation in term of performance".

Saraki and other APC stakeholders from all parts of the state had after a marathon meeting Thursday's night endorsed Ahmed for a second term in office.

A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Alhaji Yusuf Aiyedun, after the opening formalities, specially requested the support of other stakeholders from Kwara North and Kwara Central to grant Kwara South opportunity to produce the state governor for a second term.

Aiyedun stated that he was making the request on the performance of Gov. Ahmed and the need to deepen the legacy of continuity and equity.

Similarly, Alhaji Jimoh Adesina, from Asa Local Government Area and Kwara North Senatorial zone chairman, in his remarks said he aligned with the request of Kwara South for a second term.

Adesina said Governor Ahmed has shown unequal humility and loyalty to the party's structure, leadership and the people of the state despite his exalted position.

He however advised Gov. Ahmed to ensure wide spread of dividends of democracy across board.

Speaking in a similar vein, a party elder from Kwara North, Senator Mohammed Ahmed, said Governor Ahmed has achieved a lot despite the shortfall in revenue allocation from Abuja and advised the governor to consider other zones for political patronage.

The APC woman leader, Hajia Sarah Adebayo on behalf of the women folk endorsed the second term bid with a request that effort should be made to ensure 35 percent affirmative action.
