CAN gives Kwara govt 7 day ultimatum over alleged marginalization

The Christian Association of  Nigeria, Kwara State branch has suspended Christian participation in the Kwara State Committee on Religious Matters and threaten to embark on other actions if  its requests were not met within seven days.

The association in a media briefing in Ilorin on Monday alleged that Christians were grossly marginalized in the appointments, promotions and other activities in  the state. 

Kwara State branch Chairman of CAN, Dr. James Folaranmi who addressed a media conference in company of other executives of the association said  available records showed that Christians were being marginalized at all levels in the state.

He claimed that out of 146 key political appointments in the state, there are only 27 christians. He demanded a fair representations at all levels and called for the immediate stop of the alleged agenda to continue to marginalize Christians either by design or by connivance.

He also called for a fair representation of Christians in the state executive council and board appointments both at the state and federal levels and in the civil service.
