Manufacturers Tasked on High-Quality Production as SON Certifies Kwara Company

Date: 2026-04-02

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has called on manufacturers across the country to prioritise the production of high-quality, standardised goods to boost consumer confidence and national pride.

The Director-General of SON, Ifeanyi Okeke, made the call in Ilorin through the Kwara State Coordinator, Engr. Oyewopo Abdulrazaq, during the presentation of a Product Identification (P.I.) Certificate to Green Conversion and Assemble Limited.

He urged Nigerian manufacturers to remain committed to meeting minimum required standards, stressing that consistent quality would enhance trust among consumers.

According to him, adherence to standards will not only guarantee safety and value for money but also encourage Nigerians to patronise locally made products.

Okeke noted that improving product quality would help build confidence in Made-in-Nigeria goods and foster a sense of pride among citizens.

He congratulated the company on the achievement, adding that the certification aligns with SON's mandate of improving lives through standardisation and the enforcement of quality assurance for locally manufactured products.

He noted that the company had successfully been certified under the Product Identification (P.I) Scheme and encouraged it to take the necessary steps towards obtaining the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certification, a more comprehensive quality assurance requirement. Okeke emphasised that both the MANCAP and Product Identification Schemes are designed to ensure that locally manufactured products comply with the Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS).

He added that adherence to these standards not only boosts consumer confidence but also enhances the competitiveness of Nigerian products in both local and international markets.

Speaking on the benefits of the Product Identification Scheme, the Assistant Chief Technical Officer of SON, Mrs Ibukunolu Alasan, commended the organisation on their development stride.

She explained that certified products are entitled to carry the official SON certification logo, which serves as a mark of quality and compliance.

Alasan further noted that the certification signifies formal recognition by SON and helps to strengthen consumer trust, thereby increasing market acceptance.

In his response, the Manager of Green Conversion and Assemble Limited, Mr. Bello Kamaldeen, expressed appreciation to SON for the recognition, support, and technical guidance extended to the company throughout the certification process.

He stated that the certification would serve as motivation for the company to uphold higher quality standards and continue improving its production processes.

In his remarks, Engr. Yusuf commended the management and staff of Green Conversion and Assemble Limited for their commitment to quality and standards.

He encouraged them to sustain the momentum and remain dedicated to continuous improvement while working diligently towards achieving full MANCAP certification.
