NAFOWA Calls for Support to Women, Girls for National Development
The Nigerian Air Force Officers' Wives Association (NAFOWA) has called on Nigerians to support women and girls as a pathway to strengthen bonds in families, communities for national development.
The Chairperson of NAFOWA, Hajiya Marriam Lawal, made the call during a programme organised to commemorate the 2026 International Women's Day celebration in Ilorin, Kwara State. Lawal said the event provided an opportunity to recognise the resilience and contributions of women across society.
She noted that the 2026 theme, "Give to Gain: Leadership, Care and Justice for Women and Girls," highlights the need for deliberate mentorship, protection and opportunities for women and girls.
According to her, empowering women and girls benefits society as a whole.
Lawal also encouraged young girls to remain focused on their aspirations.
Chairman of the Kwara State branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Azeezat Ibrahim, urged women to support and uplift one another as a pathway to leadership and personal growth.
A retired Director of the Michael Imodu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Olaide Ajiboye, emphasised the critical role women play in building families and communities. She urged women to embrace leadership roles, mentor younger generations and advocate equal access to education.
