Women's Affairs Commissioner Afolashade Urges Christian Women to Participate Actively in Politics
The Kwara State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Opeyemi Afolashade, has urged Christian women in the state to actively participate in politics and governance as part of efforts to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Afolashade made the call while receiving members of the Christian Northern Nigeria Progressive Forum in her office in Ilorin.
She noted that the present administration has created increased opportunities for women to play significant roles in governance and public service.
The commissioner encouraged Christians to engage more actively in the political and electoral processes to foster a balanced political environment that guarantees equal opportunities for all citizens to vote and be voted for.
Afolashade also appreciated the association for its support to the ministry, particularly in promoting women's inclusiveness and gender equality.
In his remarks, a National Officer of the Christian Northern Nigeria Progressive Forum, Dave Ifabiyi, said the association would continue to encourage Christians to participate in politics, contest elective positions and promote inclusive governance.
