Fire Renders 70 Persons Homeless in Ilorin

Two fire incidents that occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Ilorin, the Kwara capital, have rendered more than 70 persons homeless, an official said.

Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, the Special Adviser to Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed on Emergency and Relief Services, gave the figures after inspecting the spots of the fire incidents.

The fire razed a 12-room bungalow on Opomalu Road and a 30-room bungalow on Taiwo Road.

The special adviser, after inspecting the two locations, described the incidents as unfortunate

He said that the state government would provide immediate assistance to them.

"The state government will urgently come to their rescue since several of them are now refugees," the
governor's aide said.

Some of the victims who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said they lost all their valuable property.

They appealed to the state and Federal Governments to come to their aid.
