Yahaya Ibrahim Impresses in Debut as Kwara United Hold Bayelsa United to 1-1 Draw
As reported by Sports Ration, Blessed Stars Academy product Yahaya Ibrahim made a memorable debut in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), helping Kwara United secure their first away point of the season in a 1-1 draw against Bayelsa United.
The NPFL matchday four fixture, held at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, saw Kwara United aiming to bounce back from consecutive home draws. In a bold move, Kwara United's head coach Tunde Sanni handed the teenage defender his debut, starting him at right-back.
Yahaya Ibrahim justified his selection with a standout performance, playing the full 90 minutes and playing a crucial role in Kwara United's defensive stability, helping them earn a valuable point away from home.
The visitors took the lead in the 66th minute through Akanni Akeem, who calmly slotted the ball past Bayelsa United goalkeeper Godsgift Elkanah. However, Bayelsa United responded with increased pressure and found an equaliser through their own Yahaya Ibrahim, who scored past Kwara United's goalkeeper Nurudeen Badmus to level the game.
Despite Bayelsa United's push for a late winner, Kwara United held firm, with the young Ibrahim playing a crucial role in securing a valuable point on the road.
Yahaya Ibrahim, who joined Kwara United from the highly-rated Blessed Stars Football Academy in Uyo during the last transfer window, is tipped for a bright future. The teenager, versatile enough to play both in midfield and as a right-back, has already shown great potential on his NPFL debut.
