Kwara First Lady Urges Students to Shun Drug Abuse
According to a news report from the Kwara State Ministry of Communications, the First Lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Professor Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has urged students to shun drug abuse and oppose any actions that could lead to the illicit use of drugs.
Represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the First Lady delivered this message at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School in Ilorin during an event organised by the Kwara State Drug Control Committee, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and the Office of the First Lady as part of the Schools Sensitisation Programme in commemoration of the United Nations campaign against illicit drugs.
Professor Olufolake AbdulRazaq emphasized the importance of students becoming exemplary ambassadors of the State by shunning illicit drugs and other negative influences.
She enjoined the students of the School to raise awareness among other students about the dangers of substance abuse and stand against being bullied or lured into illicit use of drugs.
The First Lady, thereafter highlighted the administration's unwavering commitment, under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to maintain zero tolerance for drug abuse in the State.
The First Lady who urged students to prioritize their education, describing it as the most valuable gift they could receive, encouraged them to focus on their studies and to resist the allure of illicit harmful substances, which could derail their future.
The school sensitization programme on drug abuse organized by the Kwara State Drug Control Committee is part of ongoing efforts by the State Government to educate and empower youths against the dangers of substance abuse.
