Easter: Take 30 Minutes Rest After Every 4-hour Drive, FRSC tells Motorists
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara state Command, Commander Stephen Dawulung, has advised motorists travelling across the state for this year's Easter celebrations to avoid night journeys and also take adequate rest for at least 30 minutes after every four hours' drive.
This is just as the Command disclosed that it had deployed 856 personnel comprising officers and marshals for a special Easter patrol which would begin from Friday, March 29 to April 2, 2024.
The Command in a statement released Friday by its Public Education Officer, OB Basambo, added that 276 special Marshals and123 first responders would also be fully involved in the operations.
“The special patrol which aims at the reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries and the enhancement of free flow of traffic within Kwara state, will also involve the deployment of 42 patrol vehicles, two power bikes, four ambulances, four medium private tow trucks and one 70-tonne tow-truck so as to ensure prompt removal of obstructions and rescue of road crash victims, amongst others.
“The sector commander strongly advises motorists to avoid excessive speeding, overloading, route violation, and driving with worn-out tyres, which form the major causes of road traffic crashes.”
