Kwara to Check Rural-Urban Drift
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its determination to further develop rural communities to curb rural urban drift in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold, stated this in iIorin while declaring open a workshop organised for liaison officers and Youth Empowerment Coordinators in all the 16 local government areas of the state
This, according to him, would be achieve through the provision of more motorable roads in rural areas, portable water, electricity and other amenities.
The SSG said that this will further improve the well being of the people at the grassroots and reduce concentration of people in urban centres.
He described the workshop as timely and also enhance the capacity building for political office holders in the state.
The SSG sees local government councils as tools for grassroots development and urged the participants to find ways of monitoring proper execution of government programmes at the grassroots.
In his remark, The Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Inter Governmental Local, Alhaji Aro Yahyah called on the Officers to be good ambassadors of the state government and be more proactive in rural transformation agenda of Governor Ahmed.
In his lecture at the workshop entitled, making local government councils as platform for rural development, a University don with Al Hikimah University, Iiorin, Mallam Saka Nurudeen called on Nigerian Leaders to be responsive to plight of their Followers.
The workshop was the 4th in the year and it was aimed at training and retraining of the LOSs' and YECs' on how to go about their officials duties.
