NYSC DG tasks corps members on discipline
Brig.- Gen Mohammed Fada, the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has advised the 2022 Batch B, Streams 1 corps members to maintain high level of discipline during their one-year mandatory national Service.
Fada gave the advice on Tuesday in an address delivered at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara, at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly deployed corps members to the state.
Represented by the state Coordinator, Mrs Francisca Olaleye, the director-general cautioned the corps members to be law-abiding citizens during and after their service year.
He urged them to shun cultism, drug abuse, fraud and other social vices.
“Avoid using social media for spreading fake news, fuelling hatred and other negative purposes.
“Instead, deploy the same for the promotion of national unity and development,” Fada said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 1,520 corps members were deployed to Kwara for the orientation course.
The corps members have been undergoing orientation course after taking the oath of allegiance ahead of the commencement of their national service.
The oath of allegiance was administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Suleiman Kawu, who represented by Justice Suleiman Akanbi.
In her remarks, the NYSC state coordinator assured the new corps members of adequate security and welfare throughout the time they will be spending in Kwara.
Olaleye described the state as very peaceful, adding that the people are very warm and friendly to corps members.
