Court Remands 2 For Stealing 6-Month-Old Baby

Date: 2021-06-22

Two suspected traffickers who allegedly specialised in the selling of little children have been remanded by a Kwara State Family court.

The suspects, Sheyin Akinsete and Ikudiasi Titilayo allegedly conspired to steal a six months old boy, Abdulsamad Monsuru whom his mother, one Oyetunji Ayisat, left sleeping in the room.

Ayisat, according to the First Information Report (FIR) discovered after she returned home that her baby has been stolen through the window.

The charge sheet added that investigation conducted at the Anti-Human Trafficking Women and Children Protection Unit, led to the recovery of the boy in Akure, Ondo State.

The suspects have confessed to the crime of stealing the baby with the plan to sell him off in Imo State, the FIR added.

The prosecutor, Adisa Akinjide, urged the court to remand the suspects on the basis that the alleged offences against them are not ordinarily bailable.

Magistrate Shade Lawal, who presided over the matter, ordered the remand of the suspects in the Correctional Service Centre while the matter was adjourned to 30th of June.
