Joana Kolo meets with Leadership of NAKSS, Charges youth on participation in Governance
The Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mrs Joana Nnazua Kolo hosted the Leadership of the National Association of Kwara State Students-NAKSS (National Headquarters) in her office for familiarisation.
As young leaders of tomorrow, it is pivotal that youth are informed and engaged with the global vision for the future. Over the next few years, youth will not only directly experience the outcome of Governance and plans but will also be the key driver for their successful implementation.
Participating in government activities is a worthwhile way of supporting sustainable development efforts.
Mrs Kolo in her remarks stated that, "youth are the torchbearers of the Government Agenda and they are expected to be contributing to achieving the state and national growth and development".
The engagement of young people in Governance is crucial to raising awareness of youth-related issues and demanding change.
"His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is ready to meet the needs of our society while making the best use of resources at our disposal", Mrs Kolo added.
In his remarks, the National President, Comrade Adisa Jaji Azeez said, "we are ready to collaborate and partner with the ministry in order to effectively discharge her duty. Laying foundation for good governance is tantamount to learning how to participate as an active agent, school students can lay the foundations for the good governance in the future. Through their active engagement, they can increase their understanding of democratic processes, equipping them for engagement as active citizens".
Amongst the members of the executive present are National President, Adisa Jaji Azeez; Senate President, Sakirudeen Jamiu Adeshina; Chief Judge, Zakariyah Tajudeen; Vice President (Special Duties), Simbiat Abdullah and Director General, Jegede AbdulAzeez.
