The Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration in Kwara State will continue to leverage on the wisdom and advice of elders in its drive and quest to move the state to the next level, the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi has said.

Alabi stated this today in Ilorin, the state capital, while receiving members of the Kwara South Consultative Elders Forum, led by its Chairman, Chief Michael Oyeyipo, who paid a courtesy visit to him in his office. The deputy governor spoke extensively on the need to imbibe our culture, especially among the youth, and called on the elders to always be ready to advice and guide the government appropriately.

"We need the advice of our elders for the country to record the needed progress and move forward," he said.

Alabi further assured his visitors that the present government would do away with the oppressive culture and tendency, which he explained had retarded the progress of the people and the state.

He charged the people to respect elders and be humble, just as he called on the elders to advice the youth to shun drug abuse and other vices.

He urged members of the forum and the people of the state to always pray for the success of the present administration. Earlier, Oyeyipo had called on the government to make equity, justice and fairness its watchwords, adding that the last 16 years had not been good to Kwara South despite series of appeals to the past administrations in the state.

Oyeyipo disclosed that some local government areas were not carried along in the past, especially in the distribution of amenities and appointments, and expressed the hope that things would be better this time. He charged the government to do its best to improve the state explaining that with dynamic civil service, things would be better.
