Another Set Of LG Pensioners Receive Gratuity In Kwara

Date: 2018-10-12

One hundred Kwara State Local Government pensioners on Wednesday received their gratuity at the Local Government Pension Board, Ilorin.

Presenting the cheques, the Chairman Local Government Pension Board, who doubles as the Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Hajia Sarat Ibrahim Adebayo, commended the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, for approving the payment of the gratuity to the LG retirees.

Adebayo affirmed that this month's payment has further shown the commitment of Ahmed to the welfare of the retirees in the state.

She noted that the dwindling allocation from the Federation Account was the main reason the LG Pension Board has been unable to pay for sometime now.

Adebayo opined that for transparency, the National Union of Pensioners, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and other Labour Unions attended the monthly Joint Accounts Allocation Committee meeting in Kwara State.

She added that Governor Ahmed remained committed to the welfare of all staffers and pensioners in the State.

While appreciating the pensioners for their steadfast and belief in this administration, Hajia Adebayo urged the pensioners to continue their support for Governor Ahmed as she gave them the assurance of continuous payment as the federal allocation improves.

The beneficiaries applauded Governor Ahmed for the release and approval of the payment of the gratuity to their members.

They saluted the courage and commitment of Hajia Adebayo to the welfare of local government retirees.

The chairman LG NUP, Alhaji Yekini Mahmud, in his reaction during the LG pensions board meeting, commended the chairman for resuscitating the payment of gratuity at the LG level.

Mahmud called for the increase in allocation for the payment of gratuity.
