Whither KWSG on Education?
Education, undoubtedly is in rumbles in Kwara State. Reports from the Campuses of the state owned Colleges of Education at Ilorin, Oro & Lafiagi disclosed that the situations in the institutions were not normal. It was learnt that the Colleges have no clear cut policy of admissions on their degree programme.
'The government has confused our programme. We were told to affliate with Kwara State University for our degree programmes but the University is not accredited for Distance Learning yet.
'We have also admitted students for this session but can not commence their programmes.
'What is worst, according to the source, is the likelihood of one of the colleges loosing its JAMB recognition for NCE Courses because of the new Education Reform, which has reduced its yearly intakes to just abt 800 students instead of over 4000 it is expected to admit',the source stated.
Report also added that these institutions are financially handicapped and unable to pay staff salaries.
