Abdullahi Condemns Attack On Worshippers, Calls For Calm

Date: 2018-01-02

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, has condemned in very strong terms the attack on some worshippers, which occurred on the eve of the New Year in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to reports, the hoodlums had besieged both Christian and Muslim faithful during midnight services at the Taiwo Isale area of Ilorin and injured many in the process.

The services were part of the worshippers' preparations for the New Year.

` In a statement issued on behalf of Mallam Abdullahi by his Special Adviser, Julius Ogunro, he noted that the attack had no religious intonation as it was obvious the perpetrators were mere criminals pursuing a devious agenda.

Abdullahi said in the statement: "I am aware that the security agencies are on top of the situation and several suspects have been arrested. I call on the security agencies to intensify their effort and arrest all perpetrators of this cowardly attack.

"I appeal for calm and urge residents of Ilorin and the environs to go about their businesses without fear or worry."
