KWSG laid foundation of adult literacy and vocational centre in Igbaja
In its efforts to empower youths and adults on skilll acquisition, the Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO) laid the foundation of Adult Literacy and Vocational Centre at Igbaja in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The governor was represented by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Engineer Musa Ayinla Yeketi, at the ceremony, said the location of the Vocational Centre in Igbaja is an act of improving the standard of living of individuals through literacy and skill acquisition in the state.
He therefore commended the efforts of the founder of AI-Hikmah University for his giant strives towards developing the educational system in the country.
Earlier in his speech, the Executive Director Kwara State Agency for Mass Education, Mr. Babatunde Alade stated that out of 36 states in Nigeria, thirteen States were picked by (UNESCO and NMEC) for this project in which Kwara State is one of them.
Mr. Alade said 60% of materials needed for the centre in Igbaja are readily available. He urged the community to cooperate with the contractors handling the project and assured them that the construction of the building would be completed within three months.
In his address, the Jagun Molu of Igbomina and founder of AI-Hikman University, Alhaji Chief Raheem Amao Oladimeji commended the state government in its efforts to boost vocational sector and gave kudos to the UNESCO and NMEC for the project.
