Empowerment: Emir Makes Case For Women

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described women as major components of the nation building that must be well catered for. He said women must be well groomed with morality to further enrich the cultural image of the country.

The monarch stated this when the national leadership of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) led by its President, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowale, paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Ilorin.

He asked government at all levels to initiate policies that would further empower the women folk, stressing that "educating a woman is as good as educating the entire nation."

Sulu-Gambari commended the members of NAWOJ for the visit and charged them to create more awareness and advocacy on the need for women be more steadfast, articulate and productive in their respective endeavours.

Earlier, the National President of NAWOJ, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowale, had pledged that the association would continue to trace the history of the nation through traditional institutions across the country for a better nation building process.

Mrs. Omowole also commended the Emir for his efforts towards ensuring that the people of Ilorin community and Kwara State at large continue to live together in peace stressing that "" takes wisdom and God's guidance to achieve this landmark."
