Sani blames Kwara United's poor run on late recruitment
Kwara United FC sweat merchant, Tunde Sani has blamed the team's poor runs in the league to poor recruitment at the start of the season.
Sani took charge of the team following the sacking of former Technical Adviser, Tunde Abdulrahman and told npfl.ng that the owners of the club may not have made the decision to play in the Premier League in good time. This he believes may have resulted in the club not recruiting more quality players for the season.
"If you look at the way Kwara United started, other teams were preparing four months before the commencement of the league but at that time we were still in the dark if we will be playing in the Nigeria National League or in the Premier League and that really set us back.
"It affected the quality of the players we recruited and we have been struggling since that time, we did not recruit well which is the main thing that is affecting us," Sani said.
The coach who described his team's lone goal defeat to host Giwa FC from a Charles Henlong 48th minute goal as a disappointing and painful loss. He said the team would have gotten a better result from the encounter if his players had converted the chances they had.
"The match was good but my pain is our loss of concentration which cost us the game.
"Our defenders lost concentration and set the striker free to score the only goal of the encounter. Giwa also defended well if not the result would have been different," the coach added.
He said his opponent played as a compact team which showed they have an understanding of themselves having played together over the years.
"Everybody knows that Giwa's players are not used to leaving their team, they play as a team and for us we just assembled our team this season for the top flight league so in the aspect of team play, give it to them.
He expressed optimism that the club will not be relegated as they are committed to redoubling their act to remain in the top league.
