She therefore called for issue-based campaigns devoid of rancour and mud-sliding, saying this it is only way by which the masses could benefit from multi-party democracy.

Saraki who arrived Ilorin on Thursday amidst pump and pageantry by a mammoth crowd of supporters urged politicians across party lines to abide by the dictates of the Abuja Peace Accord.

According to a statement by her media aide, Barrister Mohammad Alabi, Sen. Saraki arrived Ilorin in continuation of her consultations over the future of the larger Saraki political dynasty which she controls.

"In furtherance of the consultations, she held a private session with His Eminence, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and other critical stakeholders in the state. Her consultations continue today with women and youth groups who form the bulk of her support base."

"On her political future, Saraki said that the decision about her political future rest solely with her teeming supporters. She however urged the public to be wary of rumors and act only on confirmed information."
