ABS dismantle Young Stars
Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, ABS FC on Monday mauled non-league side, Young Stars 9-0 in the quarterfinal of the Kwara State FA Cup.
ABS' leading scorer in the NPL this season, Abdulrahman Bashir opened score inside six minutes and Akeem Audu doubled the lead seven minutes later for the Saraki Boys at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
The NPL club raced into a five-goal lead in the first 45 minutes when Bashir scored his second on 35 minutes followed by goals from Audu and Ismaila Sulaiman on 38th and 41st minute respectively.
Audu started off from where he stopped in the first half and got his hat-trick three minutes into the restart.
On 62 minutes Audu again pounced on a through ball to make it 7-0 to ABS.
It was the turn of Ibrahim Abdullahi to embarrass the hapless Young Stars with 12 minutes to time.
Audu rounded off the tie in style by claiming his fifth goal of the game and ABS' ninth to complete a historic win in the Kwara FA Cup in the 80th minute.
The 9-0 win by ABS on Monday over Young Stars remains the biggest win on record in the Kwara FA Cup.
"It is the highest scoreline for a win in the history of the (Kwara) state FA Cup," secretary of the Kwara State FA, Oke Jimoh said.
Kwara Football Academy also won their game over Offa United 2-0.
