Press Release: Kwara APC dismisses Omotosho's allegation as outright falsehood

Date: 2015-04-07

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has said it does not need to rig in order to secure landslide victory in the forthcoming Governorship and House of Assembly election in Kwara State.

The party was reacting to an allegation by Mike Omotosho campaign organisation that the APC plots to rig the forthcoming election.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party dismissed the allegation as outright falsehood, misleading and a futile attempt by an unpopular candidate to seek political relevance ahead of the election.

"Since the nitty-gritty and strength of the allegation raised against our party bothers on non-existent plans and unsubstantiated claims, it is important to establish the following points: We do not have any plan to rig any election. We do not have any plan to c?ompromise INEC electoral officers. We did not buy PVCs and we do not intend to buy PVCs ahead of the election.

"For the records, our party gathered about 70% ?of the total votes cast in the Presidential and National Assembly election held on the 28th of March in Kwara State.

"It is quite laughable that any serious-minded campaign team would alleged that such a party would need to rig election to secure victory. ?If the APC didn't compromise any INEC officer to win election on the 28th of March, evidently the APC doesn't need to compromise any INEC officer to win election on the 11th of April.

"We advise the Mike Omotosho campaign organisation to stop chasing shadow? and face its governorship campaign.

"The commitment of our party to peaceful and credible election is strong and unwavering, therefore, we urge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the forthcoming election is more credible than the previous election.?", the statement read.
