School wins N1m in Kwara
Cherubim and Seraphim Secondary School, Ilorin, Kwara State has received N1m from the management of LUBON, an oil conglomerate as its prize money for winning the 6th edition of LUBCON Principal's Cup.
According to a statement from the company in Ilorin on Thursday, LUBCON also has distributed football kits to seven zones ahead of the 7th edition of the competition.
The Executive Director, Commercial, LUBCON, Fatai Woli presented the cheaque to the principal of the school, Mrs. Elizabeth Korode in the presence of the Kwara State Commissioner for Education, Science and Human Capital Development, Muhammed Raji.
Fatai says that Lubcon has been duly registered as a club and will be participating in this year's Amateur league and Challenge Cup competition.
He stated that sports could reduce insecurity, adding that engaging the youth in sporting activities would prevent them from dissipating their energies in unproductive and dangerous ventures.
According to him, the company's gesture was to engage the youths productively and ensure that were discouraged from involvement in crime, violence and other social vices.
He added that through the competition, the company had discovered some talented youths who are now playing with Kwara Footballl Academy.
Raji said the Chairman of LUBCON, Ibrahim Jani had invested much in sports development as well as rendering social services to schools and the entire society.
