Monarchs get N20m to renovate palaces
The Kwara State government has released N20 million to two first class traditional rulers in the state to help renovate their palaces. Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Tunji Moronfoye, made this known in an interview with journalists in Ilorin.
He gave the names of the monarchs as Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Kawu Haliru and his Tsaragi counterpart, Alhaji Mohammed Kpoto.
He said renovation works on the two palaces has reached advanced stages which would be completed within the shortest possible time. Moronfoye similarly said that the state government has donated a brand new Prado Jeep car worth N16 million to the Emir of Shonga, Dr. Haliru Yahaya.
The commissioner said the government is uplifting the standard of traditional rulers in the state to boost their morale and appreciate their efforts in maintaining peace in their respective domains.
He assured other traditional rulers in the state that it would soon be their turn to benefit from the largesse.
Moronfoye praised the foresight of some local government councils in the state in complementing the efforts of the state government to see to the wellbeing of monarchs in the state.
