FRSC pledges road safety in Kwara

Date: 2013-08-06

The Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Kwara State command, says about 700 Officials will be engaged to maintain sanity on roads during Eid-Fitri celebration.

The commission says that measure was to ensure a hitch-free vehicular and human movement.

The Festival is meant to end the Ramadan fast which will last for either 29 or 30 days.

The Sector Commander, Mrs Mary Wakawa, said that the Command had set up Emergency Centres at Omuaran, Jebba, Offa, Oloru and Eiyenkorin major cities in Kwara State to take care of emergencies cases during the celebration

"The command would not hesitate to deal with anybody no matter how highly placed found wanting during the celebration and beyond," she noted.

Mrs Wakawa warned motorists against excessive speeding and over-loading, receiving phone calls while driving and violating other traffic rules and regulations.

She warned residents of Ilorin and neighbouring towns against conveying children in their car boots on their way to the praying ground. She warned that anybody caught in the act will be prosecuted.

The Commander also warned officials of the command to carry out their duties, before, during and after the Celebration.

"Laziness will not be tolerated from any officer while on duty," she warned.
