Yusuf Ali Advocates NIM Code of Conduct as Oath for Public Officers
A legal luminary, Malam Yusuf Olaolu Ali has advocated for the adoption of the code of conduct of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) as oath of office for all public officers in order to eradicate corruption and save the country from a national embarrassment.
Ali who made the call while delivering his address at the 2013 Annual Management Day Celebration titled "Good governance: Enforcement of Law and Order" organised by Kwara state branch of the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) held at the University of Ilorin noted that the use of the NIM code would put public office holders on their toes to work effectively and efficiently.
He attributed the challenge facing the nation to inability of the public office holders to discharge their duties as required by the law, saying that the country was gradually moving towards a beggarly society where people including public office holders beg for monetary benefit before discharging their duties.
In his paper tittled "Good governance: Enforcement of Law and Order", the guest lecturer Ahmed Tunde Popoola, advocated for re-structuring of the judicial system whereby individual would not be powerful than the system in order to keep corruption at arm’s-length since its one of the factors constituting insecurity.
Royal FM correspondent, Olarotimi Oshin who was at the event reports that the Vice Chancellor of University Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali who was represented by the Dean Faculty of education Professor Adekunle Olorundare in his keynote address, advocated for the training of a strong workforce to train the future leaders.
