The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his appointment as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin.

The Sultan described the emergence of the new Chief Imam as a manifestation of Allah's divine will and an act of destiny ordained by Him.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka on behalf of his media team, Sultan Abubakar emphasised that leadership is both a divine trust and a sacred responsibility.

"A leader is made by Allah. Whoever is chosen must always remember that he is accountable to Him in the discharge of his duties to the people he is appointed to serve," the Sultan stated.

While commending the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for the appointment, the Sultan prayed that Almighty Allah grant the new Chief Imam the strength, wisdom, sound judgement, and increased knowledge required to successfully lead the Ulama and the Muslim community within the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.

He also expressed confidence that Sheikh Dasuki would provide purposeful spiritual leadership and contribute significantly to the continued growth, unity, and progress of the Muslim Ummah.

The Sultan wished the new Chief Imam a successful, impactful, and rewarding tenure in office.
