The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the umbrella socio-cultural organisation of the people of the Ilorin Emirate, has celebrated a distinguished son of the community, Shaykh Idris Abdulkareem Siddeeq, for successfully translating this year's Hajj sermon delivered by His Eminence, Shaykh Ali Hudhayfiy, the Imam of the Prophet's Mosque, Madinah, Saudi Arabia, into the Yoruba language for the benefit of Yoruba-speaking pilgrims and the global Yoruba community at large.

The National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, stated that the achievement of the Ilorin-born scholar, who is also a researcher at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has further confirmed the place of Ilorin Emirate on the global Islamic map.

Alhaji Abdulmalik urged Shaykh Siddeeq, a graduate of Az-Zumratul Adabiyyah Kamaliyya Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Ilorin, and Al-Azhar University, Cairo, to continue to make Ilorin Emirate proud.

The community leader wished Shaykh Siddeeq a more successful and rewarding career.
