Hon. Abubakar Bata Commends Oyun and Offa Leadership on Road, Health and Palace Upgrades
Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, Kwara State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, has commended the leadership of Oyun and Offa Local Government Councils for the high quality and visible impact of their ongoing development projects.
The Commissioner expressed his satisfaction during a day-long inspection tour of completed and continuing initiatives in both councils.
In Oyun Local Government, he inspected the 7 km grading of the Ira-Iyeku-Elerin road, the full renovation of Inaja-Alaro Primary Health Centre, rehabilitation of classrooms in selected schools, and the ongoing overhaul of the SUBEB office at Ilemona.
Other projects reviewed in Oyun included the newly installed 300 kVA transformer serving Ijagbo community and the comprehensive renovation of the palace of the Onigosun of Igosun.
Commissioner Bata praised the councils for delivering tangible, people-centred projects that directly improve living conditions and demonstrate prudent use of resources at the grassroots level.
Speaking after the tour, The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the quality and relevance of the projects, noting that each intervention project reflects a strong commitment by the Council, under the leadership of Hon. Akanbi Kamar.
The Commissioner particularly applauded the Council Chairman for improving access to quality services and enhancing the welfare of residents as he singled out the grading of roads which he maintained would ease transportation of farm produce and boosting economic activities.
He further expressed optimism that the newly renovated health centre would improve healthcare delivery, and added that the upgraded classrooms would create conducive learning environment for teaching and learning.
The provision of a new transformer, he noted, would significantly enhance power supply within benefiting Communities, while the renovated Royal palace underscores respect for Traditional Institutions and cultural heritage.
"These projects clearly demonstrate that the Executive Chairman and his team are aligned with the vision of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) ,The Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum, to bring development closer to the people," the Commissioner said.
"The interventions here in Oyun directly touch the lives of the people, and I am impressed with the quality of work done."
At Offa Local Government Council, The Commissioner also inspected key ongoing and completed projects, including the newly constructed Emiola - Olalomi road , construction of the perimeter fence of the Council Secretariat, and the ongoing renovation of Offa Magistrate Court.
The Commissioner applauded the Council Chairman , Hon. Sulyman Olatunji for prioritizing road construction, which he described as critical to mobility, commerce, and general development within the Community.
He equally commended the parameter fencing project which was meant to enhance security within the Council premises and also the renovation of the Magistrate Court which would strengthen the justice delivery system at the grassroots.
"These projects in Offa reflect purposeful leadership and a clear focus on improving infrastructure to support governance, justice, and economic progress," he noted.
"I encourage the Council to sustain this momentum and continue prioritizing projects that directly impact the people."
He assured both Local Government Areas of the Ministry's continued support in ensuring effective service delivery and deeper community development across Kwara State.
The Executive Chairmen of Oyun Local Government Area, Hon. Akanbi Kamar, expressed appreciation for the Commissioner's visit and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more development-oriented projects in line with the goals of the present administration.
Also in his submission,The Executive Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Hon Sulyman Olatunji, disclosed that the newly constructed 500 meters road would be commissioned in a few days to come and also another road would be flagged Off for construction.
The Executive Chairman who attributed all his successes to the Executive Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who gave all the Council Chairmen the free hand to operate.
The Commissioner was, however, accompanied in the tour, by his Permanent Secretary, Mrs Iyabo Modupe Adekeye,The Director, Local Government Affairs, Mrs Akande Christiana among other Officials of the Ministry.
