We're coming to win the trophy! - Kwara United boss issues defiant message ahead of Kotoko clash
Kwara United's General Manager, Mallam Bashir Badawiy, has issued a bold statement ahead of the club's crucial encounter with Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko, declaring that neither the high stakes nor the hostile atmosphere will faze his team.
Emphasising mental strength and resilience, Badawiy warned against complacency while asserting his squad's readiness to perform under pressure.
Reflecting on a past continental challenge, he recalled their experience in a packed stadium in Sudan during a tie against Morocco's RS Berkane.
"We faced a full-capacity crowd and nearly made it through. Big stadiums and loud fans don't intimidate us it's all about mentality," Badawiy said. "If you can't deliver in those moments, you don't belong at this level."
He urged his players to embrace the challenge, no matter the venue.
"Even at the Maracana, show the world what you're made of," he said. "People say, 'Take it easy on us.' But let me be clear we're not here just to participate. We're coming to win the trophy."
With the tie expected to draw a massive turnout and intense pressure, Badawiy's message underscores Kwara United's ambition to go beyond mere competition and aim for continental glory.
