Couple Abducted by Bandits Regain Freedom in Kwara Community
A couple kidnapped in Ekko village (Lafiagi, Edu LGA), Malam Manko and his wife Rakiya, have been reunited with their families following their release on Sunday night, DAILY POST confirms.
The Lafiagi Emirate Council Secretary verified the development, noting this brings the total number of freed kidnapping victims in the region to seven.
While authorities have not disclosed whether ransom was paid, the release offers rare hope amid escalating insecurity in Kwara's border communities.
Efforts to obtain official comment from Kwara Police Spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi remained unsuccessful as of Sunday evening. The case follows recent attacks in Edu LGA, where armed groups have increasingly targeted rural settlements near the Niger State border.
