Kwara United, the Ilorin-Kwara United Arrive Lagos for President’s Cup Final: Eyes on CAF Confederation Cup Qualificationbased Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, have arrived in Lagos ahead of the 2025 President's Federation Cup final against Abakaliki FC. The match, scheduled for Saturday, 28 June , will take place at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan and determine Nigeria's representative in next season's CAF Confederation Cup.
The team landed in Lagos on Friday afternoon to begin final preparations for the decisive clash. Forward Wasiu Alalade spoke to Nigeriafootball.ng about the early arrival, stating: "This gives us time to focus fully on the task ahead and acclimatise to the venue."
Kwara United, fresh from a dominant NPFL campaign, aims to capitalise on their momentum to secure victory over Abakaliki FC, who reached the final through an impressive underdog run. The winner will join the Confederation Cup qualifiers, marking a significant achievement in Nigerian club football.
"I think it's nice to be here on time and acclimatize with the atmosphere. This will help us settle down and be in the right frame of mind for the final."
The veteran forward also added that while Abakaliki FC may be the underdogs on paper, they see the Nigeria National League (NNL) side as equals.
"We haven't seen clips of them, but we are preparing for it like every other game. We don't see them as inferior. We're focused and positive about winning it and making history."
The winner of the final will join Abia Warriors as Nigeria's second representative in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup. A victory for either side will be their maiden President Federation Cup trophy.
