Kwara United advanced to the Round of 32 of the President’s Federation Cup after securing a 2-0 victory over Cynosure FC in the Round of 64 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Wednesday.

The Harmony Boys dominated possession but faced early resistance before substitute Wasiu Jimoh broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute. Akanni Akeem then sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal, propelling the team into the next phase of the tournament.

Kwara United’s defensive pair, Yahaya Ibrahim and Victor Adeoye, showcased resilience, while midfielders Issa Gatta, Wasiu Alalade, and Shola AbdulRaheem delivered standout performances to control the game’s tempo and create scoring opportunities.

The victory marks a crucial step in the club’s campaign, with the team now set to compete against tougher opposition in the Round of 32.

Head coach Tunde Sanni expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, noting that they would build on this momentum ahead of their NPFL Matchday 30 clash against Akwa United on Sunday in Ilorin.

With this victory, Kwara United advance to the Round of 32 and now await the draw for their next opponent in the President Federation Cup.
