The Kwara State Ministry of Health is set to commence free medical screenings across the 16 local government areas of the state, following the directive from Governor Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq. Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the State Commissioner for Health, made the announcement during a press briefing at her office in Ilorin over the weekend.
Dr. El-Imam highlighted that the screenings are part of the governor's ongoing efforts to provide accessible healthcare services to the people of Kwara, especially the underprivileged.
She noted that previous medical outreach initiatives, also approved by Governor AbdulRazaq, have already improved health standards for many citizens. The Commissioner emphasized that the newly approved cancer screening programme further demonstrates the government's commitment to delivering quality healthcare for all residents.
According to her, "Medical Experts will be on ground to screen and lead positive cases to affordable treatment, as early discovery leads to better treatment."
She therefore urged Kwarans to seize the golden opportunity by going all out to do their breasts and cervical cancer screening, which will be flagged off at Bode -Saadu Primary Health Care center, in Moro Local Government on Monday 21th October 2024 while on Thursday 24th the medical team will stop at Osi Primary Health Care Center in Ekiti Local Government to continue the exercise.
