Kwara Poly disowns suspects who killed club owner
The management of Kwara State Polytechnic has disowned the duo suspects of Adama Joseph and Oreoluwa Davies, who were paraded by the Nigeria Police for killing a club owner, Adeniyi Ojo, in a hotel situated in Ilorin in Kwara State.
In a statement titled, “Re: How we killed club owner in hotel – Female Student,” which was made available to PUNCH Online by the institution's Public Relations Officer, Halimat Garba, on Thursday, the registrar said the suspects are not students of the polytechnic.
The statement partly read, “The Management wishes to disclaim this discrediting and malicious news about the institution, stating that the suspects being paraded in Abuja by the force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, are students of Kwara State Polytechnic.
“The Polytechnic management wishes to state categorically that its students are good ambassadors of the polytechnic, the state, and Nigeria at large and will never indulge in such acts.”
The institution stressed that the suspects' claim that they were schooled at the polytechnic is untrue, baseless, and a figment of their imagination, noting that the claim was intended to drag the name of the ever-peaceful institution into the mud.
The registrar further urged all Polytechnic stakeholders and press members to verify anything tagged with the institution before circulating it.
Recall that during the interrogation on Wednesday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Adama had said the victim had been demanding a sexual relationship with her for some time. Still, she refused because she was working under him at some point, and when she quit the job, he failed to meet her financial needs whenever she requested. Oreoluwa also agreed with Adama's narration of the event.
She also claimed to have finished her ND programme at Kwara Polytechnic before the incident happened.
