End of tenure: IEDPU hails Oloriegbe, others
As the tenure of members of the 9th National Assembly comes to an end tomorrow, the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, fsi, has assessed the tenure of the outgoing Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, describing his sojourn at the federal legislature as commendable and emulative.
In a statement signed by the Spokesman of the Union, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, Alhaji Uthman said that the Union was impressed with the legislative outputs and general contributions of Senator Oloriegbe throughout his tenure as a member of the national parliament.
"Senator Oloriegbe did very well. It was always a delight watching him contribute to debates on the floor of the Senate. He exudes brilliance, confidence and exposure as one of the most distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic. He is, indeed, a pride to us",Alhaji Uthman noted.
The community leader explained that the Union was not surprised with the inspiring performance of Dr Oloriegbe as a Senator of the Federal Republic, saying that as a onetime member of the National Executive of our Union, the erudite legislator knew where the shoe pinches and delivered on his core mandates to the applause of many members of his constituency.
Alhaji Uthman, who added that the Union had a very cordial relationship with Senator Oloriegbe before and after his inauguration as a member of the Senate, said that history would surely be kind with him as he added that his recent admission into the legislative hall of fame is an enduring tribute to his contributions.
The retired intelligence technocrat saluted the outgoing Senator for and on all he accomplished during his tenure particularly the establishment of the Federal Neuropyschiatric Hospital, Budo-Egba and several other enduring interventions.
Alhaji Uthman, however, regretted the fact that the proposed Federal College of Education, Afon, facilitated by Dr Oloriegbe could not takeoff during his tenure despite its approval by the Senate as he said that the Union expects that the Senator-elect,who is also the Turaki of Ilorin, Mallam Saliu Mustapha; and his colleagues at the House of Representatives from Ilorin Emirate would ensure its realization, in addition to the projects they would facilitate for the Emirate during their tenure.
The IEDPU President also congratulated the outgoing Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Planning, Honourable Abdulganiyu Saka Cook Olododo, who represented the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency at the House for his outstanding performance and his counterpart who represented the Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Honourable Yekini Alajangusi for rounding off his assignments peacefully.
While wishing the trio rewarding future in their respective careers, Alhaji Uthman also encouraged succeeding members of the National Assembly from Ilorin Emirate to be prepared to offer their best in their responsibilities to the community, Kwara State and the nation at large.
