Kwara Governor Applauds Federal Government’s Health Insurance Programme
The Kwara state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has applauded the Federal Government for its health insurance programme which is expected to benefit thousands of peoplein Kwara state, saying it will cater for the poorest of the poor in the communities.
AbdulRazaq who was represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razak, made the commendation during the commissioning of the Kwara State National Health Insurance Authority office building in Ilorin the state capital.
He described the programme by the Buhari-led administration as a remarkable achievement that has come through democratic governance and an addition to the several Federal Government presence in the State.
“I am in no doubt that this edifice will provide a decent work environment to enhance the actualization of our mutual plans for improving health care delivery in our state and the country as a whole.”
He, however expressed gratitude to the Federal Government on behalf of the people of the state saying, “On behalf of the good people of our state, I appreciate this additional contribution to improving health care in our state and the Nation at large.”
Speaking on the impact of his administration in promoting health care in the State, he said his administration through the Kwara Care project of the State Health Insurance Agency in collaboration with our partners, have provided a unique opportunity for making health care accessible and affordable in the spirit of Universal Health Coverage.
“It is a haven of hope especially because it has eliminated out of pocket expenses for the over 50,000 kwara people benefiting from the scheme, either through annual premium payment or Basic Health Care Provision funding opportunities, for the poorest of the poor in our communities.”
At the event, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff to the President personally commissioned the NHIA Kwara State Office in Ilorin.
