Remembrance Day: Governor AbdulRazaq Extols Nigerian Armed Forces
The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has extolled the commitment and loyalty of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the service of the country.
AbdulRazaq affirmed this at the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service to commemorate the Armed Forces Remembrance day and Emblem Appeal week at Mount Olive Anglican Church, Ilorin, the state capital.
Represented by his Deputy, Kayode Alabi, the Governor asserted that the courageous Nigerians had obeyed Biblical injunctions on service.
These heroes, he said “served their country and offered their lives as a ransom for the preservation of the nation”.
The Governor appreciated the effort and sacrifice of the Nigerian Armed Forces in maintaining peace, security and tranquility in the state and beyond.
He called on the people to support and cooperate with members of the Nigerian Armed Forces to combat security challenges which undermine the stability of our nation.
In his sermon titled, 'Love and Sacrifice', the former chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Evang. Prof T. O Opoola said, “sacrifice is an expression of love, when you love, you give all.”
He enjoined the people not to be afraid to make any sacrifice but to live a life of sacrifice to God and fellow humans.
In his remarks, The Chairman, of CAN, Kwara State Chapter, Bishop Sunday Adewole, called on government to do more in supporting the forces and encouraged the military to continue discharging its duties with utmost professionalism.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is observed every January 15 in honour of fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
