KW-IRS: AbdulRazaq Advocates Youth Involvement In Tax Profession
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has lauded the initiative of involving the younger generation and developing them early in the Tax profession.
The Governor said this today at the Grand Finale of the 2022 Tax Club Quiz Competition organised by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service at the Banquet Hall Ilorin.
He called on all to invest in tax practice and administration to build a virile environment and make the taxation businesses thrive at all levels of endeavours.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, explained that the collection of taxes and fees is a fundamental way to generate public revenues that make it possible to finance investments in human capital, infrastructure, and the provision of services for citizens and businesses and fund public services, such as schools, emergency services, and welfare programs.
Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated the organisers, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service and the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, for the feat.
In her welcome address, the Executive Chairman KW-IRS, Mrs Shade Omoniyi, said the KW-IRS Tax Club Quiz Competition is an aspect of the 6-Es Community Impact Programs (CIPs), designed to nurture tax-compliant generations through deliberate exposure to rudiments of taxation right from the secondary school till taxable adulthood. The winners at the end went home with cash prizes of N2.5Million, N1.5Million and N1Million, respectively, while all participating schools also received tangible consolation prizes.
She expressed her appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his commitment and investment in the education sector of Kwara State, a feat that she said has produced world-class scholars and multi-talented generations ready to conquer the world.
