Ex-Police Officer, 1 Other Charged With N40m Fraud In Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has arraigned an ex-police officer, Issa Lukman, and one Babatunde Omotayo for defrauding one Ismail Omotayo of N40 million in Ilorin.
According to the complainant, the suspects fraudulently obtained the cash at his office on Police Road, Ilorin, under the pretense of paying back from the proceeds of a Bitcoin business.
Police report revealed that the suspect also bought a car valued at N1.7m from the complainant, with the promise to pay in a short period.
The prosecutor, Inspection Nasir Yusuf, told the court that, “Investigation conducted at the anti-cultism section of the CID, Ilorin, revealed that the suspects and others at large defrauded the complainant of the amount and car.”
The Magistrate, Muhammed Ibrahim, ordered the remand of the suspects in a correctional facility and adjourned to July 19.
