Live up to Expectations of Members, Perm. Sec. Communications Tasks Kwara NUJ New Exco.
The Permanent Secretary in the kwara State Ministry of Communications, Hajia Rabiat Mopelola AbdulRahman has charged the newly elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, Ahmed Lanre Abdullateef and other executive members to strive to live up to the expectations of members who entrusted them with their votes.
In a congratulatory message released at the weekend, Hajia Mopelola expressed happiness at the democratic way the pen pushers had chosen their leaders, asking them to see their emergence as a call to offer the much needed best, treat welfare of members with all seriousness and always carry every member along.
She described Abdullateef as an intelligent and hardworking journalist that has the potentials to serve his people better and consolidate on the achievements he inherited in office. She called on all members particularly the contestants to work as a team towards achieving a common goal.
" On behalf of the Ministry, I heartily congratulate the newly elected chairman, Ahmed Lanre Abdullateef and other members of the executives of NUJ, Kwara state council on the conduct of their election and a hitch-free transition that just took place.
"The election was peaceful to the admiration of all including my Ministry. And I think those who eventually came out victorious from such keenly contested positions truly deserve it. I call on both the winners and the losers to work as a team in the interest of peace, unity and progress of the union", she said.
According to the Permanent Secretary, media are playing important roles in keeping the public well informed and ensuring good governance, urging the media personnel to remain consistent and always be guided by a development media theory.
She pledged the government's continuous commitment to transparency and accountability, and requested them to always ensure selflessness.
