Be job creators, NYSC boss tells corps members

Date: 2012-10-21

Kwara State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Ezinne Ezekwe on Thursday urged the outgoing 2,170 corps members in the state to be job creators rather than job seekers.

At the passing out ceremony of the corps members in Ilorin, she urged them to be innovative, adding that they can discover and avail themselves of opportunities of solving societal problems and thereby have a good and honest means of livelihood.

She said with the training they had received and the available funds for entrepreneurs, the corps members could become self-employed.

She said, "The challenges you are bound to face as you move ahead can be surmounted by the practical application of right attitude and values, which have been imparted to you through the scheme."

Ezekwe noted that some corps members performed brilliantly in community development service through the execution of needs-based projects in their various host communities.

She disclosed that the NYSC lost a corps member, Udifire Allayasa Voghagi with code number KW/11C/1439, even as she commended the Kwara State Government and other organisations and groups for assisting NYSC in the state.
