Kwara govt. pledges to reposition Aviation College, inaugurates visitation panel

Date: 2020-08-07

The Kwara Government on Thursday inaugurated a Visitation Panel to the International Aviation College, Ilorin, with a pledge to reposition the institution to actualise its goals and objectives.

Inaugurating the panel in Ilorin, Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo-Kawu, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, said the event was another milestone in the administration's commitment to delivering the gains of good governance to the people of the state.

"Education, as we all know, is the bedrock of current and future development of any prosperous society, hence we cannot afford to live any stone unturned in building a 21st century, dynamic, responsive and relevant institutions in the state," she said.

Modibbo-Kawu urged the panel members to use their wealth of experience in the discharge of their duties and work with relevant stakeholders such as the Ministry of Tertiary Education Science and Technology and Federal Ministry of Aviation.

The commissioner also appealed to all stakeholders to unite and develop the education in the field of aviation so as to set the pace for others across the nation.

She observed that constant repositioning of higher institutions, especially the International Aviation College, would hold a great fortune for the future of youths.

"Our goal is to produce personnel in aviation to meet the shortage of aviation personnel on a global level and more especially in Nigeria and West Africa sub-region, for self-sufficiency and national development," she said.

In his response, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Funsho-Alabi, Chairman of the Visitation Panel, said the panel would strive to fulfil its duties diligently.

He observed that though there were challenges ahead, the panel would ensure the administration achieved its aims and objectives of repositioning the Aviation College to greater heights.

Funsho-Alabi appealed for the support of the commissioner in carrying out the assignment.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members included Mrs Christiana Olaosebikan, Director, Ministry of Tertiary Education, who would serve as the Secretary of the Visitation Panel.

Other members included Retired Group Capt. Ibrahim Adebayo and Abdul Fatai Olajide, Private Chartered Accountant and Auditor. (NAN)
