Kwara United's new chairman, Titiloye, aims to resuscitate Afonja Warriors

Date: 2019-08-22

The newly appointed chairman of the board of Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin, Mr. Kunbi Titiloye has promised prompt rebuilding of the fortunes of the state's owned football team.

Titiloye, an ex footballer, said, "We are going to carry out this assignment dutifully and return the club to its rightful place in the nation's football hierarchy. It will not be a one-man show... all the members of the board and the entire good people of this state will play their roles as well."

Speaking with The Guardian in Ilorin yesterday, Titiloye solicited the supports of all his predecessors to make the job easy.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had on Tuesday announced the dissolution of the board of Kwara United and promptly approved the appointment of a new seven-member board, with Kunbi Titiloye from Kwara South Senatorial District as the Chairman. Hamidu Olowo (Kwara Central) is the secretary, according to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mamman Saba Jibril.

Other members are Bashir Badawi from Kwara South as the General Manager; Yahaya Jibril Usman (Kwara North), as Team Manager; AbdulKadir Mohammed Saheed (Kwara North) as Welfare Officer; Hamid Alege Olarewaju (Kwara Central) as member; and Ajadi Bamidele Ganiyu (Kwara South) as member.

"The appointment of the chairman and members is based on their good track records in football administration and passion for sports development," the statement added.

It said the appointment took immediate effect.
